complete quilt

Baby Quilt

This is a link to all the photos of the completed quilt. You can click on the quilt to go to the album with closeups of each block. It's already been through one wash cycle so the cotton batting is nicely shrunk to show off the quilting.

It's for a member of a couple of round robin groups I've been in over the past couple of years. The old gang is breaking up now after two successful rounds. Some of us got together to make this quilt for her. Not everyone had time to participate but all send their very best wishes. It was my idea to make a group quilt for her since she had polled us for our thoughts about having a second child. Fast forward a few months and she excitedly posted a photo of her EPT results. The rest is history. Miley arrived on September 9, 2007 - Kimberly's second daughter. The two of them are probably a little too busy to keep up on their blog readiing, so I'm sure this will still be a surprise for her when the box arrives in a week or so.

This is my first all machine made quilt. I usually quilt by hand. I learned a lot. Mostly I learned that there is no way I would do a king sized quilt. Another baby quilt, perhaps. Maybe not in flannel. Definitely more art quilts and journal quilts.
