limbering up

I'm so out of practice. No entries in days. Here's something out of the blue... I have Johnny Mathis' autograph on a program from his 50th anniversary concert in Fort Worth. The tickets were sold out but I'm real tight with a guy in the band who is just wacky enough to ask for such things. He was taking one of his album covers to get his own autograph and so I asked him to get one for me. He said Johnny's voice is probably better than ever. Ah, maybe next time.

seeing stars

The ornaments are about ready for the exchange in a week and a half. I've been slaving away on them.
It's been raining a lot the past couple of days. So I haven't been out to look at the north 40 to see how my lettuce and snap peas are doing.
Spend the whole day on one project at work and it's finally done. Need to do the same project for me but on a more artistic scale. A calendar to last a year. I'm proud of my last one, but 2007 will be a little different...
I just like a straight answer sometimes. Took more than a week, but I finally got an answer to a question I posted on a mailing list. And a lot of people were evidently waiting to hear the response because I got a lot of email about my question from complete strangers but the answer was sent just to me and not posted. Hmmm. I guess the one with the guts gets the glory. Anyway I passed the response around. Eventually, the complete answer will get officially posted on the mailing list and that will finally quiet all the off-stage whispering and wondering.

Entries since I began this blog last May. This month was blog-every-day month according to someone somewhere - a long lost link - and I have only missed one day so far. Thanksgiving weekend is one of the best holidays. Family gettogethers, an abundance of food, glorious fall weather, a little gift shopping, time to finish a few projects. I plan to start my annual holiday letter and my 2007 calendar. Optimism hits a peak about now. I'm dressing casual for work and leaving early. Smiles and thanks all around.

not too inspired but I will be soon

I got so much done over the weekend, I am kinda vegging. Dropped some wool yarn (about 3 pounds) off at Dottie's house so she can hook some more sheep for the sale next month. She'll use it up, I have no plans to ever use it. It was gifted to me and now it's moved on to a wiser place.
Got a new book on wire jewelry from my boss today. She bought herself a copy and *we* are going to make a project from it! Really cool stuff. She's taking jewelry classes at Glassell and has learned a lot of really cool techniques.
Timing is too perfect as I'm also signed up for a wire weaving class this weekend with Giovanna Imperia. I am packed and ready to go already. Love weekend workshops. I'm so exhausted on Monday morning I don't even realize I am at work. My brain stays in workshop mode for at least another day or two, mentally starting about a dozen projects at once.
