Lyrical Potpourri is a round robin with song lyrics as the theme. I have to do two spreads! I have one done and ideas for another. This one is for Rick Nelson's Garden Party and part of the song, I like best is the line "no one recognized me, I didn't look the same." And then the guitars...just looked good in the garden.
When we were buying more stuff than we needed for finishing J's garden table top, I couldn't pass by these tiny tiles. They were so cute. So I used them to cover a wooden frame I got in a gift box of stuff last year. Yea! Old stuff used and new stuff used almost immediately.
There weren't enough tiles to do the sides so I covered those with copper tape. Looks pretty good considering the time it took to finish. Space for the photo is 4x6 inches, so it is small. Will make a nice Father's Day gift for the grill king. He's seen it sitting around, but I haven't handed it to him to admire, so most likely he hasn't really "seen" it yet. I'll look for the perfect photo of the grandkids to put in it.

I've finished the third wire woven little coin purse. It's going on a trip next week, photos to be posted after the first of next year. Keep your fingers crossed even though it's hard to type that way... this one might be published.

Great dinner party on Saturday night: tapas and home brews at my daughter's home. The granddaughter came home with us for a sleep over and it was pancakes as usual for Sunday breakfast. She is really good at mixing now. She says she helps her mommy stir a lot. She slept right through the night on the floor - must have been that long soak in the tub playing with all the frog tub toys. She very politely asked me if she could play with "just one" of my new frogs. I asked which one and she pointed to one that was not fragile, so, of course, I agreed. So nice to have been asked first. Great progress.
On Sunday, the yard men moved heaven and earth for me. I'm working on a patio extension and there was an old stump that needed to be removed. They did a great job and moved some grass to a bald spot and placed the extra dirt in a valley near the back fence. Of course, it needs some tweaking by the designer - me, but the hard work is done. I have to come up with a nice surface treatment so we can put a table and chairs out there. No rush, summer is almost here and we won't be sitting out there in the heat.
My daughter and I went to a friend's house on Sunday. We were so intent on finishing her project of the mosaic table for her gazebo that I hardly noticed what everyone else was doing and missed most of the gossip.
Spent most of the rest of the weekend, typing frantically. Trying to smooth feathers and hold onto the reins of a runaway train of conversation.
The gold wire warp is calling to me. I have to pick up some supplies at Hobby Lobby and do the second prototype. The first is not working too well.

I have a line up of things I want to finish today. It's freezing cold outside and rain is predicted - it will probably be muddy when the rabbit starts hiding the eggs early tomorrow morning. Grandpa is not going to be the one hiding this year since my daughter has a new garden, the egg hunt will be at her house and grandpa is not getting up at the crack of dawn to go over and help - I don't think....
Last night, the flowered dress was done and hung. I even starched the skirt. But it's a sleeveless little thing and so M will need a sweater for the photos outside.
Then this morning I am packing up my inchies to mail them off on Monday. And the round robin for the altered group is drying. I may do another page, but it could be counted as done unless I find myself with free time and new inspiration.
Next on the list is the birds fabric journal for another round robin. I have the images ready and the piecing design selected. Just have to get busy on the machine. I hope to do some feather quilting - as appropriate on a bird theme.
But the piece I am proudest of finishing is this little book of Remnants. Wrapped and tagged and ready to go to the show. If you click on the photo, you will go to my Picasso album with other views of the book.
