frog

A prince of a frog. This little guy was a gift from an old friend. She taught me to make tamales in her tiny apartment kitchen during the Christmas holidays a long time ago. We don't get together much anymore but she appears in my life at the most opportune moments. The week before my daughter was married, she was in the Sam's and so I was able to give her a personal invitation. Then just last year, she was at the quilt show and my daughter and grandson were with me so she got to meet him. Houston is a huge place and it feels so wierd to run into someone from the past in unusual places at just the right time.

frog

A pin cushion my daughter made using a soda bottle cap. Part of a plethera of frogs she gave me for Christmas in a McDonald's cup. She is into tiny pin cushions these days - has made a zillion of them by now. Can't stop, I guess. She decorates them, sometimes uses my handwovens for the bases. Always cute.

frog

A birthday gift from a weaving friend, Fern. She's an excellent shopper. This is a porcelain frog that was raku fired with horsehair as the smoking agent. See the squiggles on him? Those are randomly burned in according to how the hair touched the red hot ceramic after it was pulled from the kiln.
Somewhere I have the card on who made it....

kiss me

Not strictly a frog on Friday... but still a pretty special frog. A gift from a co-worker who could not resist buying this for me since it was so me!
My husband gave me a very romantic card and I am going to share my chocolate frogs with him tonight. Happy Valentine's Day to each and every Green Prince.
